Participating in this blog is a major part of the course requirements for ENGL 1302-040. In fact, participation is worth 25% or your overall course grade. You are responsible for posting nine times during the semester--six times writing individual posts and three times writing comments. Each post/comment must be at least 200 words!

Words are taken away from sentences to short up the phrase. Chatting online also adds to the problem. When typing to a friend online, it is a lot easier to just write the fastest way you can. Sentences such as "what u doin" are commonly used in these types of situations. There is also a lot of slang that is used with everyday conversation. Young kids can't help but talk the way everybody else around talks. All of the slang and short pronunciation of words are completely fine to use amongst your friends and family. There is a fine line where it must stop and the correct grammar must be used. When talking business, writing a paper, or just acting professional, proper grammar must be used to be respected properly.
