I find this play to be somewhat entertaining. In my point of view I see it as a hilarious comedy with bad acting. I do realize how certain people could take offense to it. The idea that mexicans are treated like vehicles for people to buy would be offensive to me if I were mexican most likely. I don't think Valdez's intentions are to make his audience uncomfortable. I think he is actually trying to make a strong point. It can be described as an effective weapon because he accomplished his goal in illustrating what he wanted to say.
