My thoughts for Luci Tapahonso's poems

At the beginning of the class I was really scared for the poems because I feel I am not that good in understanding or writing a poem but when I read poem from Luci Tapahonso it was quite understandable and I enjoyed her poems. Even though I could grasp a little out of the poem at the start I learned new thing for instance about Native Americans. I was not familiar with Native American culture at all but reading her poem made me see the boarder picture and their lifestyle. And it was so wonderful to read about their tradition and cultures which reminds me of my background filled with customs and rituals. I was frightened that I would not be able to understand her poem but her poem were not like the other poem but certain stanza. Her poems were like stories being told and it was easier for me to understand. I found the poems interesting because she could easily related her life and the culture she was raised in form of poem. In my case I find it hard to express my self through poem and I always wished that I could write a poem. After this class I will try my best to read more poem and also poem by Luci Tapahonso. It is always interesting to learn and hear about new cultures and their experiences.
