Imagine by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

This is one of my favorite songs of John Lennon. He was a former member of the British band, Beatles. In the 1970’s after he separated from the Beatle, he was involved in many anti war campaign. He was an activist and most of his songs were related to anti war, love, peace and life like Give peace a chance, Working class hero and many more. John Lennon was very passionate about his work and he related with songs to them. This song has a deep meaning because it talks about the possibilities and the option. This song makes me dream big, with a wonderful place with no hatred and peace all around. In my point of view since he was strongly involved with anti war, he could easily translated his believes in his music. I feel this song can be pictured as if he wanted his fans to follow his ways or even try to make an effort to stop the war during that time. His lyric is very powerful and it expresses the need for peace in the world.

  1. I don't listen to the Beetles or John Lennon because I personally don't like their music. But after listening to this song I grew to like it. In my opinion this song is all about positivity in the world and how everyone should get along with each other. If his lyrics are this powerful it makes me want to listen to the Beetles and John Lennon. Hopefully his lyrics are just as powerful and meaningful and I'll enjoy their music. I guess I just never gave them a chance and now I'm really regretting not listening to them earlier in life. I think that John Lennon is really good at getting his point of view across through his lyrics in his songs. I also think that people probably enjoyed his work a lot in the Beetles and by himself because people could easily relate to what he was talking about. I found myself relating to this song because it provided a positive outlook on life for me. It makes me feel that everyone should come together and that there should be peace throughout all of us. We are all the same and nothing should cause us to fight with one another.

  2. I always liked this song but never really thought about what it might have meant to John Lennon Personally. This is a very deep thought for a song that is only a few minutes long I believe for a person to truly understand any song they must now where the author was in his musical phase and in his life as well as how the author wanted the lyrics and music of his song to be interpreted.

  3. I have always been a HUGE fan of this song. I find it amazing and somewhat sad that this song that was written so many years ago can still be so personable to people within my generation. I find it sad because I feel things like this ong that have such a clear message about where the world should be, and the world's potential are written so that hopefully they will touch enough people that a difference will be made. So that when future generations stubble upon this song the concepts within it are foreign. The fact that this song can still be so relateable to my generation just shows that there is still so much work to be done. I agree with Chance in that it is important to understand when the songwriter wrote the song because that can allude to why, but when it comes to songs like this I do not feel that people who may not know anything about John or the Beatles, or "his era" will have a difficult time understanding/ relating to the song.
