Poem

When I was in high school we were required to create a scrapbook for my senior english class of key events that happened my senior year. I looked through it and noticed a poem I had in there. I don't even remember writing it but it was there so here it is.

Goodbye to the laughs
Goodbye to the tears
Goodbye to the memories
Of the last four years
Goodbye to the tests
Goodbye to the games
Goodbye to the people
We will never know by name
Goodbye to the teachers
Goodbye to the staff
Goodbye to the people
Who made us laugh
Goodbye to our friends
Goodbye to our foes
Goodbye to the lives
We used to know
Goodbye to this place
Goodbye to this heaven
Goodbye to the class

  1. Hey man I did the same thing my senior year at Paschal. It's sad because we're leaving everything we've have known for the past four years behind. We have to say goodbye to all the people we became friends with because we're not sure if we're going to see them again, since everyone is splitting up and taking their own paths. All we'll have are our memories with our old friedns like all our inside jokes, hanging out with them in our favorite spots, and just chilling and enjoying our youth.
We can always look back at the past four years spent in high school as the best time of our lives. Our high school memories and actions helped us mature into the person we are today. That is something we will never be able to forget.

Besides the relationships with our friends, our relationships with our teachers helped us mature into the person we are today. The teachers guided us and provided us with the tools we were going to need to succeed in college. All teachers helped us in our own different way.

Even though you and me did not go to the same school, we probably have similar memories and experiences of high school. High school will always be something we will never forget.

  2. There are so many learning experiences as we all get older and mature and I think this poem captures the very essence of high school. The ups and downs and just being able to make it through everything was difficult at sometimes but was also a good amount of fun.I'm really glad that you posted this, Cory. It reminds me not to be petty and get stuck on all of the little things, but to take a step back and see the bigger picture.

I agree with Lance that our memories and actions are characteristics of who we are today, and I also think that our actions now will affect who we will become in our future. But I do not think that we should worry about the future because alot of the time it is out of our control and that sometimes things happen for a reason.

I'm really excited to see how much I will change throughout the next few years while I am in college, because I think that change will come for the best in all of us.Sometimes it is best to say goodbye to the old and embrace the new, so that we can better ourselves, but still there are some memories that I would never want to leave behind.
